Director

Few filmmakers love film like Sam. A cinephile from pre-school, Sam has spent countless hours in his child-hood room/college dorm, and as an adult, watching films in blacked out rooms on his beloved projector. His love is only matched by the countless hours spent writing, reading, and researching (and watching every films’ behind the scenes.) From The Tin Man (40’s) to modern day sci-fi, this love of different genres, stories and mediums comes through in his directorial style. IRL Sam’s skills span everything from single-handedly lighting complicated sets, to operating myriad cameras ( both digital and film), acute knowledge of lenses and a love of the people he directs. Always participatory and professional on set, everyone loves working with Sam. He is a pioneer and also a throwback to the old fashioned director, a hybrid of Christopher Nolan meets John Ford.

Overlay

Two opposing stories: one ending in rape. A man accuses a woman, in these two vignettes Overlay-ed on top of each other. What results is a cacophony of fact and deception, leading the viewer to decide the truth.

Murder’s Sweet Scent

Another long night in the city that never sleeps... for private eye Francine Black. Classic meets modern in this visually splashy neo-noir. Bodies in Chinatown and a Russian femme fatale are just some of the puzzle pieces in this case of a lifetime.

Arbor Day

In a slightly dystopian view of our near future, two men scour the country for a Hell born creature. Father and son, Thomas and Luke, must put an immortal demon-man back into it's Earthly prison. Thomas regales his semi-captive audience with a yarn about a young boy named Thomas:
The Yates family has a tradition. Every generation a father and son go into the woods and chop down a certain tree. They hollow out the stump and plant a new tree inside the old one. This is done because imprisoned in the roots bellow lay both man and demon inside one body. Undying.
But as with any good campfire story the creature is let loose and it murders it's way to freedom. But the little boy of the story within the story survives the creature. And he spends the rest of his life tracking down the creature and putting it back where it belongs.
But are Thomas and Luke the characters from their own story? And can they be trusted?
